Home made Play Dough

Basic Mix for play dough.

2 cups plain flour
2 cups water
I cup salt
2 tablespoons veg oil
1 tablespoon Cream of Tartar
Food colouring. (I use Gel colours so you don't need to use as much colouring)


Put ingredients in a saucepan & heat until it becomes difficult to mix.
Throw dough onto a slightly floured board & knead until it all comes together.

The food colouring can be added into the saucepan mix or added as you knead the dough. I prefer to knead into the dough so you can get the colour you want.
If you don't want stained hands, best wear a pair of gloves!

Store the play doh in zipper plastic bags. (Cling film is not airtight so the dough will harden)

You can add stuff to your play doh, we had fun with glitter, stars & googley eyes!
